Another First

This is the first time I have seen a hot air balloon on the ground.

We were visiting family in Monks Kirby a couple of hours ago.
Our drive home takes us past Coombe Country Park.
It was my iPhone to the rescue again!

There were 12 people in the basket
heading off for an hour's ride
across beautiful English countryside.

Coombe Abbey Hotel is in the distance
in the photograph below.

Have a chilled weekend all.
I am going to do the same.
I look forward to visiting your blogs over the weekend.

Lovely series of photos. I have yet to see a hot air balloon...period. (well, except in photos.) :)

Gail and I have been in two hot air balloons now. Both Virgin ones. The first trip went over Southwell, while the second took us near Mansfield. Neither took us over the city centre, as I am keen to see what Nottingham looks like from the air.
It's very quiet once you're up there, and the views are fantastic.

Wow! Love these shots. I am impressed with these iPhone camera capabilities of taking great clear images.

I would have loved to be with you taking the photos, but I would not -- repeat, NOT -- get into that ballon and go for a ride. I don't like heights.

I have taken numerous photos with my iPhone recently and it is startling how clear the photos are. I am not ready to give up my DSLR, but I don't get upset any more when I leave the big guy home and come across a good subject for a picture.

Beautiful shots! Have you ever ridden in one of these things? I have not and would not. I don't like heights and there's just something about being up high in the air with a basket and fire! :)

It's very reassuring to read above comments and realise that I'm not the only cowardy custard as far as heights are concerned :) I know my phone can take photos, but I've not even taken one with it..you take fab shots with yours Lauren. Hope you're having a relaxing weekend.

Beautiful!! So glad you came upon this fun scene and had your iPhone with you (what a great invention). I'd love to ride in a hot air balloon someday, though the little rash of terrible accidents earlier this summer did give me pause...

Hopefully these folks enjoyed a safe and fun ride, and got an eyeful of the beautiful English scenery below!

12 people in a basket seems a lot to me, but I imagine the flight went smoothly. Makes for a great Skywatch photo.

Impressive snaps if they are from a phone.

Thank you all! Great comments - enjoyed reading them all.

I didn't go up in that balloon and I can guarantee you that as much as I would love to, I NEVER will.

Jack - I agree....!

Lowell - Now you know why I won't be riding in one of these...in spite of how amazing the views must be.

Grace - Have a go with you phone. See what you think :).

Thanks again everyone for taking the time to leave a comment.
