D Is For Dragon

This relief sculpture of 'St George and the Dragon'
can be found in the Soldiers' chapel off the north transept
in Lincoln Cathedral.

While I am at Lincoln Cathedral
here are just a few more shot of those
amazing vaults.

Above the choir (with a closer view of alter on right).
The shot below is a reflection in a 6 x 6 foot mirror
(on a table reflecting upwards)
of the vault above High Alter.

These photos were taken in June, 2013.

Participating in ABC Wednesday.

Goodness, what an amazing place. I remember reading the first book (Pillars of the Earth) in Ken Folletts' series and it dealt in detail with cathedral construction in 12th century England. This post reminded me of that fine work.

D for Dragon certainly qualifies. The vault photos are impressive. The last one almost shimmers.

Maybe it's because of your first photo, but now I see dragon wings in those vaulted ceilings.

Amazing cathedral!
